Fantastic performance. Punk, power, energy
Skegness Butlins on October 10 2015
Saturday headliners from a 3 day alternative music festival and they didn't disappoint. Good selection of songs from their back catalogue had the place bouncing from the off. Credit to the sound guy. Solid drums, clear bass, guitar and keyboard sounds and a good vocal balance between Dave and The Capt.
The Captain suffered a few sound issues with his monitors and guitar but was sorted out in a cool unprofessional but professional way as was the false start to New Rose where Vanian stopped the song after a few bars claiming "We've missed a very important part of the song out" then lept from the drum riser uttering "Is she really going out with him?". Personal highlight for me was their excellent cover of Alone again or... I was wondering how they would fill out the brass parts but Dave and The Capt did a great job with harmony " ba ba ba's". Slightly saddened that they didn't play my favourite Damned song, Grimly fiendish but it didn't spoil a very enjoyable night. Even Sensibles rendition of Happy Talk didnt spoil it :) Finished the night with Smash it up and the roof nearly lifted. No encore but a great night 10/10
