Lyra—real name Laura McNamara—is a singer-songwriter from Cork, Ireland.
First dipping her toes into the music industry in 2004, she appeared as a contestant on series two of singing competition programme You're a Star, aged 11, and placed seventh in the live shows. Coming full circle, in 2021 she was announced as a judge on Virgin Media One talent show, The Big Deal, alongside Boy George, Aston Merrygold, Deirdre O'Kane and Jedward. She has since released a handful of EPs, with the most recent being a remix compilation titled 'Edge Of Seventeen (Anton Powers Remixes)' in 2022, and has landed support slots for the likes of Pink and Sting. She's due to drop her self-titled debut album in April 2024. Lyra has announced a huge Irish tour for February/March 2024, before heading to the UK in May.
