Bruce Springsteen Surprise Releases Live Album Of 1986 Bridge School Benefit Performance
Laura Johnson 12 August 2019
'Bridge School '86' captures The Boss' performance at the first Bridge School Benefit Concert at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California on October 13, 1986. He was joined by Danny Federici on accordion and Nils Lofgren on acoustic guitars and backing vocal.
There was also a very special performance of Springsteen's track Hungy Heart that night, featuring David Crosby and Graham Nash on backing vocals, and Stephen Stills and Neil Young on acoustic guitar and backing vocals. Head here to read an essay about the show by Erik Flannigan and here for further details about the release.
$2 from each purchase of the album will be donated to The Bridge School, "an innovative organization educating children with severe speech and physical impairments." It was founded by Neil Young's former wife, Pegi Young, alongside Jim Forderer and Dr. Marilyn Buzolich in 1986.
Springsteen released his new album 'Western Stars' in June. Its accompanying film will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
Rare and unreleased tracks by the legendary singer-songwriter were also recently shared as part of the soundtrack for the new film Blinded By The Light.
